How To Protect Yourself

There are many ways that you can lower your risk of acquiring Coronavirus and passing it onto others.

  • Avoid close contact with those who are sick.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
  • Stay home when you’re sick.
  • Cover coughing and sneezing with a tissue and discard it in the trash immediately after.
  • Treat frequently touched objects and surfaces with standard cleaning and disinfecting agents routinely.
  • Do not wear a facemask if you are well. Face masks should be worn by people showing symptoms of COVID-19, as well as healthcare workers and those in close proximity to infected patients.
  • Wash your hands with soap and water, especially after using the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
  • Keep alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol handy for convenient cleaning when soap and water are unavailable.

Protect Your Employees

Encourage Sick Employees to Stay Home

It is very important that you and your employees stay away from the office if you show any signs of respiratory illness.  A person should stay away from the office until they no longer show any signs of illness without medication for at least 24 hours.

Disinfect and Clean Your Facility Regularly

Other than self-quarantine, the best way to keep your employees safe is to clean and disinfect your office on a regular basis.  Cleaning and disinfecting doorknobs, bathrooms, desks, keyboards, light switches and other regularly used items, such as copiers, is essential to lower the risk of contracting an illness.  Contact us if you are interested in cleaning and/or disinfection.

Limit Travel and Be Cautious When Traveling

If you must travel for work or personal reasons, check the CDC Traveler's Health page to get valuable information about how to stay safe when traveling.  Of course, the safest option is to not travel outside the country and not travel to any known areas of concentrated illness inside your country.

Be Self-Aware When Sneezing and Touching

Keeping hands clean through improved hand hygiene is one of the most important steps we can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to others. Many diseases and conditions are spread by not washing hands with soap and clean, running water. If clean, running water is not accessible, as is common in many parts of the world, use soap and available water. If soap and water are unavailable, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol to clean hands.

Other great ways to be safer are to cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and put your used tissue in a waste basket. If you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve, not your hands.
