How To Protect Yourself
There are many ways that you can lower your risk of acquiring Coronavirus and passing it onto others.
- Avoid close contact with those who are sick.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Stay home when you’re sick.
- Cover coughing and sneezing with a tissue and discard it in the trash immediately after.
- Treat frequently touched objects and surfaces with standard cleaning and disinfecting agents routinely.
- Do not wear a facemask if you are well. Face masks should be worn by people showing symptoms of COVID-19, as well as healthcare workers and those in close proximity to infected patients.
- Wash your hands with soap and water, especially after using the bathroom, before eating, and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.

If soap and water are unavailable, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol to clean hands.
Other great ways to be safer are to cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and put your used tissue in a waste basket. If you don’t have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve, not your hands.
